Question about Spotify's "This is...." and "Spotify Radio" playlists

I'm curious to know at what point does Spotify create the "This is...." and Spotify Radio playlists for artists. Do they have to have so many albums or singles out before they do this?

"This is" playlists as you might know,contain all the essential tracks of a certain artist. This means there has to be a certain number of tracks released to create such a playlist of an acceptable length. 

On the other hand, you can usually find artist or song radios for just about any search query,no matter how obscure. Give it a try!
