Remove songs or artists from suggestion or auto play

Remove songs or artists from suggestion or auto play

I like how Spotify automatically plays songs in my music style. But sometimes, there are songs I don't like and don't want to listen to them again in the future. I couldn't find any function to remove songs or artists (on playing or in the list) on the app other than the "Next" button. Those songs always come back from time to time. How to remove a song or artist from my experience?

Hello @dntanh,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Community!

I get that you want to stop hearing certain artists and their songs in your Spotify suggestions, that's quite ok. Currently, you should be able to block artists from the app on your mobile device. Go to the Artist profile, click the 3-dot menu and look for the "Don't play this" option. Turning on this option should block content from that artist across all devices, but keep in mind that if the artist is featured in a song/ album from another artist it might still appear in their songs and to be playable for you.

Hope you find this useful. Keep us posted if you have any questions.

Thank you for your information!

I usually use Spotify on my computer so I didn't know this option was available on mobile. Can you tell me why the "Don't play this" option is not available on the Windows application?

Hey @dntanh,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Options on the different Spotify platforms may differ a little bit, however, we can see how that would be a handy feature and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us.

In addition, it seems like the Community folks have already created an Idea about this. If you'd like to see "Don't play this" available on the Desktop App, we'd suggest that you check this idea here. Make sure you leave your vote to support it, so that it would have a better chance of being considered, as Spotify always strives to improve your experience.

Please note that even if an idea is currently set to “Not Right Now” you can still give it a thumbs up as we revisit those ideas on regular intervals. It might be that their time would be right in the future.

You'll also find all the relevant info about our Idea Exchange and how the Community feedback gets implemented here if you'd like to know more about the topic.

Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, the Community will be here for you 🙂

I am unable to stop an album from being being recommended in the "Suggested albums for you" list in the iOS app. Said album has sexually explict cover art that I would rather not be forced to see every time I open the app. There is currently no way to block specific albums from being shown/seen - the only options are to block songs or artists from being played, however this does not stop those artists/songs from being recommended anyway. I would prefer an option to completely disable any form of recommendations (at least on the starting screen of the app), but the last question that asked for such as feature was falsely marked as completed.

This was part of a completely seperate question I had asked on this site, but it was falsely merged with this question which is nearly entirely irrelevant and has no answers (my question was about the "Recommended for you" list on the main page, not the auto-play feature after playlists are finished). Come on Spotify; even YouTube, with its significantly better recommendation alogrithm and content vetting process, still lets users remove videos & creators from their recommendations if they don't want to see certain content. It shouldn't be this hard!
