Songs keep switching to video mode when I only want to listen to them

I pressed the switch to video button and then moved back but now songs default on the video view when I don’t want it to. How do I stop this from happening?

I have the opposite problem. I want to keep seeing videos but Spotify reverts to audio-only after every song.

Spotify automatically chooses video mode when I'm streaming to Chromecast. I don't even have a display attached, I just want to listen to the music. Very annoying!!!

The Video Stutters very Bad the Music stopps until Video goes on. Video Mode starts although i choose Music Mode. All on TV. In this case Music listening is very Bad!!!

What about letting the customer decide if they want the default to be audio or video? Or they don’t mind/switch. I want audio. Just audio. No video at all. But every time I turn it on video is the default. Give us the choice.

Currently trying to listen to music and constantly getting songs switch to video mode. There is an obvious audio quality difference when playing through videos - obvious different audio tracks.

This is a dealbreaker – I am trying to listen to records, but video masters are being forcibly delivered to my device (mobile).

"Got it, we'll only play audio from now on", but it doesn't. I see 2 different behaviours (neither correct):

Hej Spotify please create a button for no auto play for videos for tv. It’s really annoying when you want to listen to music and a video plays with for example an into talk. It’s plays automatically videos when you start a music list I just want to listen to music!

How do we turn video off permanently? I don't want it on, ever. At the moment, I turn it off, and it seems to just turn itself back on whenever it wants to. This is using both Spotify through my Android TV, also via on my phone app (Samsung S24) onto the same TV. Painful and very distracting when it just suddenly starts playing videos - especially annoying when you have guests round.

Totally agree, this is going to become a deal breaker.

When I switch from video to audio, I get the message 'we will only play audio from now on', but when I start spotify again, it still plays the videos when available.
Just now I switched to audio, I received the same message 'audio from now on', the very next track it played the video again!!!
Please Spotify, deal with this.
I want my account to default to Audio Only all the time. Often the Video versions have stupid dialogue and extra sound effects that suit the Music Video, which would be fine if I was watching the videos, but I just want to listen to music.
And the transition between tracks that do not have a video to ones that do have a video is awful. It cuts the last 10 seconds off the end of the song.

I clicked the video feature one time and since then every song is playing with video. does anyone know how I change this back? I don't want videos automatically - I need to charge my phone way too often...

Forcing of videos without option to not have them is a knife in the back of people with Epilepsy. So thank you for making this app useless to a group.

I want to be able to set my default to my preference. My preference is for it to default Audio Only, and I can swap to video if I like. Someone else's preference might be video playback. The point, however, is we pay for a subscription to listen the way we prefer so why not give customers a choice instead of forcing them to listen in a way they don't want to.
