The AI & listening algorithms need adjusted...

The AI & listening algorithms need adjusted...

My Question or Issue:

Listen, I am a huge AI supporter but y'all need to adjust how much you are relying on AI to adjust your algorithms.  A huge part of my listening experience is discovering new music and I felt like it used to be a lot simpler to do that on Spotify.  Daylists- what a great idea, but if you use your daylist more than once or twice...you end up in these loops of the same music, the same genres, etc.  The Discover Weekly playlist is fine but again, it gets stuck in these loops of genres that I listen to and doesn't actually help me discover anything.  Furthermore, when I go manually searching in music and try to look at things that are in different genres or vibes, almost ALL the playlists have that caveat of "Made for...." and it's just another loop of the same stuff.

If you are going to utilize AI, you need to instruct it more appropriately and adjust overall.  Again, I am not complaining about having to make a manual effort to go seeking new music...but when I do, I still get those damn "Made for..." playlists and it's just like music quicksand.

Agreed the algorithm is wonky. Discover weekly or release radar will have the same song or few songs on there for 4-5 weeks and then favorite artist will put out new songs that I wouldn’t see for weeks or months. But then it’s super quick to add a song I’ve listened to 2 times through to the on repeat list and it’s not a song that was added to the liked songs playlist. It’s just gotten so bad.

I completely agree, I found that hiding songs that are repeated or are what you already listen to helps drive the algorithm to get better results

I wholeheartedly agree. I used to find it so easy and enjoyable to discover new music, but now this new algorithm seems incredibly random and tirelessly repetitive. Now, it feels like I'm fighting these AI bots to find the music I actually want. I've resorted to blocking multiple artists (which I don't want to do) because this algorithm plays me the same song from them SO MUCH. I agree with the daylists, too. At first they were great but now its the same four vibes/genres in circulation. I used to think spotify was an amazing platform for growing and discovering, but I have felt stuck in such a rut for the past YEAR. 😞
