Hi there,

Thanks for the post.

The language setting on your account doesn't determine what language you'll get content recommendation and adverts in.

Ads are generated based on your location. This might be happening if you live close to the border with a country or region in which most users speak French.

Other users feel the same way about not being able to choose a preferred language for ads and recommended content. You can support their Idea by adding your +Vote here. The more votes an idea gets, the more likely it will get implemented.

I am having the same issue - ads in French. I live in the US, and not near the Canadian border. Last week, I some had ads in Spanish.

And this has put the nail in the coffin for me, good bye Spotify, you can't even cater to your users language.

Same here. Goodbye Spotify. I will advise my family to do the same.

I used Premium for a while then switched to free version because I was not able to listen often enough for it to be worth it.. Not being able to only have ads in English (or your first/preferred language) is stupidity in my opinion and is really annoying. Ok, ads are ads, but static would sound better.

If a person doesn't understand the language of what an ad is advertising, then it is not advertising and therefore is not an ad.

Plain and simple.

How's THAT for 'going modus tollens on you Spotify?! Haha!'

So in conclusion, what you play could be called something/anything more applicable, descriptive and correct.

Let's try the word "p00p."

If I hear a Spotify commercial phrase in a language I don't know, I hear p00p.

Now lets keep this true...

If I don't hear p00p, I don't hear a Spotify commercial phrase in a language I don't know.

"That's a fact Jack!"
