My Question or Issue

Would it be possible to have the app renamed to "com.spotify.music", similar to Android? So instead of:

/usr/bin/spotify (with app_id & wmclass being spotify)

/usr/share/applications/spotify.desktop

/usr/share/icons/hicolor/256x256/apps/spotify.png

You would have:

/usr/bin/spotify (with app_id & wmclass being com.spotify.music)

/usr/share/applications/com.spotify.music.desktop

/usr/share/icons/hicolor/256x256/apps/com.spotify.music.png

It's preferable on Linux for apps to follow a reverse DNS convention:

https://specifications.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/1.5/file-naming.html

The actual spotify binary name and apt/snap package names would remain the same, this is just a request for changing the app_id, desktop file & icon.
