Spotify cannot play local files Linux Mint Debian Edition

Spotify cannot play local files Linux Mint Debian Edition

Spotify displays the error: "Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it."

I have properly set a local files source within settings. This worked previously until a few days ago (I cannot say specifically).

I have installed Spotify using their specified method here for configuring apt (the commands at the bottom): https://www.spotify.com/us/download/linux/

In an attempt to resolve the issue, I also installed through Flatpak and Mint System packages, partly to retrieve the links/files specified in this discussion post: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=431189
