Cannot drag application window when "hide/show menu bar" is enabled in MacOS

Cannot drag application window when "hide/show menu bar" is enabled in MacOS

When "Automatically hide/show menu bar" in System Preferences > Dock & Menu Bar is enabled, you can no longer drag the Spotify window if it's full width/height (not fullscreen mode). You must resize the window so it's smaller, then quit and reopen Spotify for it to work.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Enable "Automatically hide/show menu bar" in System Preferences > Dock & Menu Bar
  2. Open Spotify and make it full width/height. Hold `alt/option` and click the green fullscreen circle at the top left
  3. Quit Spotify and reopen...you cannot drag the application
  4. Resize the window...you still cannot drag the application
  5. Keep the window small and quit Spotify
  6. Reopen with smaller window...happy dragging!

Hey @ksumarine.

Thanks for reaching out.

We've tested this on our end, however we weren't able to reproduce the issue. Can you please try a clean reinstall as described here and let us know if the issue persists?

Also, please let us know you device model, OS version and Spotify version.

Keep us posted.

This happened to me today. Scenario matches yours exactly. Thank you for your fix.

Spotify support. Perhaps you need to do more/better testing.

Exact same scenario here. Need to resize the Spotify window, then quit and reopen the app before I can drag and move the window. Got "Automatically hide/show menu bar" enabled.

Hey @1132195189,

Thanks for posting in this thread!

If you haven't already, would you mind giving Spotify a clean reinstall as recommended by @MihailY here? Additionally, let us know when you noticed this behavior and if it was after a specific event such as an update for example.

If there's no change, it'd be great if you could send us a screenshot or two so we can take a look at how things look like from your end. You can attach it to your next response via the Insert Image option in the post editor.

Take care 🙂

Sorry for the delay. I deleted and reinstalled Spotify. Same behavior. I only noticed it this happening after I turned on `Automatically hide/show menu bar` a while ago. I don't believe it's tied to any specific version of Spotify but it is for sure related to auto hiding the menu bar. The only way to "fix" it is to minimize the app. Meaning make the window small, not place it in the Dock), then close and reopen. Only then can I drag the window. To be clear, it fails when the app is in "zoom" mode and not full screen. So holding alt/option and clicking the green Zoom button in the top left.
