My Question or Issue

I've had frequent issues w/ songs repeating on playlists. None of which are 'my' playlists as I've never made one, I've exclusively used Spotify playlists such as Daily Mix, Discover Weekly, etc. And I always have issues with songs repeating. The discover weekly playlist I am looking at is comprised of 22 songs it looks like, and I've heard one of them 3 times already while some were never played. Why on earth doesn't Spotify's play-through of songs prevent played songs from playing again until ALL songs have been played?

While there might be multiple issues/causes, the one I am sure of that I hope Spotify will focus on as I can provide the best certainty with is below:

For what it's worth, the issue might be involved with "Connect" as I started the playlist on my Mac. Continued it when I got in my car, and then continued it again when I returned home to my Mac. In this scenario, I did NOT click anything to 'restart' the playlist, as I understand that would certainly redo the shuffle. But the point of Connect I believe is to seamlessly go from one device to another, yes? It seems so since when I went to my car, it was playing the song from the playlist I left off on my computer. However it seems to inadvertently re-do the shuffling anyways? That could cause this issue. If so, please fix it so the queue is maintained across devices.

Hey there @appledude9

Thanks for reaching out about this.

We'd first recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app, as this can help remove any cache that might be causing trouble.

If this doesn't do the trick, could you ask a friend or a family member to log in to their personal account using your device to see if they can replicate this?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Hi Novy,

It's not possible to reinstall Spotify on the Tesla, as it's built into the OS. The only thing I can do is reboot the vehicle which I did last night.

I can reinstall the application on my MacBook though, and will do so right now

This issue continues to happen and I'm 99% sure it's a byproduct of the "Spotify Connect" functionality. I think what happens is, every time I switch devices, the shuffle order gets redone. So if the shuffle order on one device is 1, 4, 6, 2, 7, 3, 5, and I listen to a few songs (1, 4, 6, 2), and then pause the song during track 2, switch to the other device, it continues playing in track 2. This works flawlessly, as in it plays exactly where I left off. However, when the next track plays, it is NOT 'track 7', and thus there is a huge chance it will repeat a track I just recently played on the previous device, because the shuffle is reordered.

The Tesla OS (device #2 in this scenario) has undergone a few updates since I first posted, and I've updated and reinstalled Spotify on the Mac (device #1). I've also logged out/in a few times on the Tesla, and this behavior still occurs. Is there a way to prevent shuffle from re-ordering itself, and to simply maintain the shuffle order when using Spotify Connect? Please let me know if I should make a separate post about this issue specifically, since this is what is the culprit for my initial post. That is, the issue is not affecting "discover weekly" exclusively, it is ANY playlist
