My Question or Issue

Fullscreen lyrics: A remarkable part of the screen is left blank. When the Controls UI is hidden, nearly half of the screen is blank.

Hey @fillybon,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

In this case, we'd like to gather some additional info. Just to confirm, can you replicate this behavior in the web player? If you're not sure, it'd be awesome if you could check.

On another note, do you have an external display screen connected to your computer? If yes, please let us know. It'll help us isolate this behavior if you could check if this is happening on a different computer. It'd be great if you could ask for the computer of a relative or friend to open your account and check.

Meanwhile, we'd recommend that you log out and log in twice in a row to your Spotify account. This could sound a little bit odd, but this way the system will force a resync of your account in general.

Keep us in the loop!

Hi,

I don't use any external display, I'm using the built-in display of my laptop. The situation is completely the same on the web player.

These are the behaviors on different computers (same account):

  • On a Windows 10 laptop, the same "half-blank screen" appears
  • On a Windows 11 laptop, (a friend's PC, who can use the feature without any problem) everything was alright and the lyrics fully covered up the screen

I hope these would be helpful for you, please let me know if there's anything else I can help with and thanks for your support!

Hi @fillybon,

Thanks for your reply and the info provided.

We appreciate you following our recommendations; however, this is expected behavior for the lyrics on desktop and the Web Player when going to full-screen. Keep in mind that the way lyrics are shown can vary depending on the number of words in each paragraph. So the gap can be smaller on some tracks.

Now, we understand if you're not satisfied with this feature, and we appreciate you taking the time to let us know. We always aim to improve, so we’ll get this passed on to the right team.

Lastly, it seems other users feel the same way, and an idea to improve this specific feature has been suggested here - feel free to add your vote to it!

Hope this clears things up. If you need a hand with anything else, we're always a post away!
