My Question or Issue
Spotify stops playing after a few seconds. This is incredibly frustrating - this is the third episode like this I've had in several months.
I've logged out, logged back in, deleted app, download new one, logged out on all devices, etc etc - almost everything.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
This is very time consuming - the last time Spotify did this, I went to Pandora until someone fixed the bug or the bug fixed itself.
Spotify - PLEASE FIX THIS BUG! It appears this has been going on for several years now - it's a little ridiculous! Get your sh!t together, if you really care about your customers (which I know you don't since you are publicly owned now 😞 )
Hi there!
I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? Sorry if this may sound a bit repetitive but if that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app.
Just follow these steps:
If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?
I'll see what I can suggest next!
i know i am very late but this just started happening to me. I just bought premium and now i am cursed.
Hey @Henry-MacLane,
Thanks for your reply here.
In this case, we'd like to gather some additional info. Would you mind sharing with us the make/model and OS of the affected device, along with the Spotify version (if you have installed the desktop app) you're running there?
On another note, is this happening in both the desktop app and the web player, or does it happen just in one of them? It'd be awesome if you could check.
Lastly, did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event, such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.
Keep us in the loop!
Happens to my all the time on my MAC. Everytime I start playing music it just pauses the music.
Most of the times I quit the application and re-open it - then it works again.
Other times I need to click around within the application to have it work again - like right now I had to click the "Now Playing View" button few times and then it worked again.
not OP but I have always had the desktop app and it's been happening to me even on the web player. I have deleted cache, deleted app and reinstalled to no avail.
i'm on a macbook air m1 2020 running ventura 13.4.1 and Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon)

Hey folks,
Thanks for your replies.
As a next step, please check your hosts file for any lines containing Spotify using this guide.
@dredt, if possible, also provide the info requested by @AlejaR and check out the troubleshooting steps in her comment.
Cheers,
