Prevent auto update of activity feed

So, I have taken all the steps to prevent the auto update of spotify and currently I use 0.9.15.17.  The only problem I am having is that occassionally the old activity feed updates to the new friend feed! This is a significant problem for me because the new friend feed is what I am most upset about in this new era of spotifiy. 

When the app updates the activity feed, I have to re-download the old file because the previously downloaded 9.15.17 (which first installed with the old activity feed) now installs with the new feed! But when I re-download the file, I get the old feed. Why is the activity feed updating to the new friend feed and how can I stop it? Thank you!

Actually, to simplify the question:

Why do the older versions (i.e. 0.9.15.17, 0.9.15.27) now install with the new friend feed? This is driving me fecking nuts! I can't find a version with the old activity feed now!!!
