Spotify Prevents Mac from Sleeping or Screensaver from Activating (El Capitan)

Spotify Prevents Mac from Sleeping or Screensaver from Activating (El Capitan)

Hi, see my attached screenshot from Activity Monitor, which shows Spotify as preventing my Mac from going into either screensaver or sleep mode.

I just upgraded to El Capitan. Did not have this problem on Yosemite. And cannot find any Spotify settings to prevent this from happening. It happens even when no music is playing in Spotify whatsoever, just so long as it's open.

Please fix or fill me in on how to remedy this for myself.

Thank you.

Did you find a solution?

Hello there!

Please check this post. I am not Mac support but I found that and hopefully it might give you any permanent or at least temporary fix.

Good luck, have a nice day ;D

If someone still searches for a fix, I made one: https://silviustroe.com/spotify-prevents-macos-to-sleep-2020-fix/

My solution was to create a short command with:

pmset sleepnow

Have a shortcut to this command in my dock and use it for going to sleep the mac.

Important: you must execute this command as admin, you can configure the short command to execute as admin.
