Spotify Won't start all of a sudden. Mac OX 10.7.4

Solved!

Spotify Won't start all of a sudden. Mac OX 10.7.4

When I try to open spotify it bounces once in my dock and does nothing. No crash report, it just refuses to open. I've tried reinstalling.

Not sure if you've solved this, but I was having the same problem. Out of nowhere, the app would hang just after the login screen. I tried several clean reinstalls, but nothing worked.

Then, on a whim, I tried logging into my account on the website first, then logging in with the desktop app. Worked like a charm.

Hope that helps.

Hi everyone! Thanks for all your input as we investigate this for you.

We've had our team on the case. Can any of you confirm whether or not it is working for you today? Try a clean reinstallation and opening the app again.

If you're still having trouble let me know. I'll get this info into the right hands ASAP.

It probably has to do with the GAP ad.  Start Spotify and immediately click on the GAP ad to start it playing.  Then pause it.  Should fix the crashing problem.  This is not the first issue I have had with their banner ads.  Last time it was for some rap concert that would autostart and then I couldn't stop it.  Spotify needs to get this issue under control.

Me too ... all of a sudden it stopped working - i tried to reinstall but its opens a new window in safari and says access denied

been having this same issue for over 2 weeks now.  i've reinstalled it like 20 times, i've done a clean uninstall 20 times and it just bounces and disappears.  its really annoying!!

Same problem here. Spotify worked fine at first but since ~2 weeks it refuses to start. It shows the login screen, after loging in Spotify just disappears. Tried other people's accounts and reinstalled Spotify several times, but to no avail. Using OS X 10.7.4.

Got the same problem here... It worked fine for like 2 weeks ago and now suddenly it's don't. So wtf is the problem? Anyone? How will i get it to work?

Fixed my crashing problem by removing stoplight (plugin to change window behaviour). Apparantly it made Spotify (and some other apps too) crash.

Just had the same issue happen. Has anybody found a fix for this yet? I almost feel as if there's a program blocking it. I don't have the stoplight app on my computer, and I've done a full clean uninstall of the program and redownloaded it. Same things happens.

i have the same problem .. help pls

Have you tried a clean reinstallation of the client?

I'm having the exact same problem on 10.8.2. I've had Spotify for years and it's worked with no problems, through numerous OS updates. Now all of the sudden, about two weeks ago it refused to open. I uninstalled (all the plists and everything too), purged caches, reinstalled, and it gets as far as the login screen, then bounces around and stops until I have to force quit. The Spotify window never opens.

I have tried while being logged in to Spotify (on Chrome) and no dice. This is getting really annoying, I miss my Spotify!

Hello,

Do you find a solution to start Spotify.  I tried many hours ago and Spotify close after 2 secondes.

Thanks

It seems that a lot of people are having a problem, and a clean reinstall is obviously not the solution. I even tried creating a new account and setting up an install of Spotify with it, to no avail. Let's hope they fix this soon...

I can confirm that Spotify 0.8.8 either does not launch or is extremely slow and buggy on the Mac.  Hope they come up with a working version pretty soon.  In the meantime, if you redownload Spotify from their site and do a clean install, you get version 0.8.5, which works fine.  Keep the InstallSpotify file somewhere safe, as the app will automatically update to the buggy 0.8.8 version as soon as you restart it.  Of course, you could also leave Spotify running all the time and never reboot your machine at all 😉

What version of Mac OS X are you all using?

If you are using 10.5, you need to have a read at this post.

After a restart of computer (OS 10.6.8) and reset of PRAM (to attempt a solutiion to other problems) spotify will not open. It attempts to and then stops. Downloaded new version . Nothing. Signed in from their website. That accepted me but no user interface appeared.

I am using 10.7.5 and have all the problems described above. I think some of us have simply copied the "10.5.8" mentioned in the title, although we use a more recent version of Mac OS.
