Spotify slow to load and search

I'm having an issue where the Spotify application won't load searches and sometimes other parts of the application. It will give the spinning loading icon but won't ever load. It mainly happens when I'm searching, but sometimes it happens when going to load playlists. It seems to worsen when I have Chrome open, but still happens when I have no other applications open. Sometimes logging out or restarting the application will help, but only temporarily. I even formatted my whole MacBook. This again helped the problem for a while but it ended up reoccuring, so I'm not sure if it's something I'm downloading or what.

Here's what I've tried:

- Reinstalling Spotify.

- Logging in and logging out/ restarting (helps but only for about 10 minutes before problem reoccurs).

- New Spotify account.

- Formatting my whole MacBook.

I'm using a Mid-2012 MacBook Pro with macOS Sierra version 10.12.5
