Still cannot install Spotify Mac app when using proxy

Still cannot install Spotify Mac app when using proxy

It is still not possible to do a clean install of the Spotify Mac app if you use a proxy to connect to the internet.  The app attempts to connect, fails, and displays an error message.  The Preferences tab remains greyed out, however, so it is impossible to enter proxy information (see screenshot).  Previous versions would prompt the user to enter proxy information if log in failed, but for some reason the new versions do not.  It's been, what, two or three months since 1.0.1 launched?  One would think the fact that some users cannot install and use the new version would be towards the top of the bug priority list, but instead it has remained completely unacknowledged.

Same here; I basically can not use my desktop client anymore because my mac is switching between work / home everyday. I'm now resorting to the browser version, but I really dislike this.

I seriously doubt Spotify will fix this anytime soon, if at all.  I canceled my premium subscription and migrated to Apple Music yesterday.  If Spotify worked with proxies, I would have had no interest whatsoever in Apple Music.  As it is, though, Spotify has never functioned in any acceptable manner with proxies and Spotify support, if you can call it that, has shown zero interest in addressing the problems.  I would strongly encourage you to dump Spotify for some other service, like Apple Music or Google Play.
