Super slow desktop app on Mac

The desktop app is practically unusable. It takes a few minutes to load, will no return search results, and won't even load an artist's page when clicked on. I have deleted and reinstalled the app to no avail. My WiFi is not the problem; YouTube videos load in no time. This is very frustrating for a long time Premium subscriber. I should be able to enjoy the service I am paying for.

I have the same problem.  Desktop iMac.  My wi-fi is solid.  I'm running the latest OS.  But it can take up to 20 minutes to load Spotify - completely unacceptable.  

I do have a lot of playlists on spotify which makes me wonder if that's the issue.
