Spotify for Windows
1.1.79.763.gc2965cdf
I found this very specific bug and though I'd share.
How to replicate
1. Start playing any music
2. Go to your local files and add any of the local files to your queue
3. Skip to the next song in the queue so that you now are playing the queued local file
4. Click the album cover in the bottom left corner of the app
5. Spotify will now open this URL in your default web browser: "https://xpui.app.spotify.com/index.html#"
I've attached a screen recording showing how to replicate this bug.
Solved! Go to Solution.
The bug can't be replicated in the latest version of Spotify for Windows (1.2.10.760.g52970952).
The latest facelift seems to have disabled the ability to click on the album cover when playing local files.
Hey @Popenet,

Hey @Popenet,
We've news 🙂
This should be now fixed. Could you please check if you still experience this issue?
It's important to make sure that the app is up-to-date.
Keep us posted.
Today I finally managed to get an update, now I'm on Spotify for Windows 1.1.82.758.g8b7b66c7, but I can still replicate the bug.
Hey @Popenet,
Thanks for the post.
Sorry to hear that this is still not fixed for you after the update. We've passed this info on to the team working on this issue.
We'll keep you updated here as soon as we have more news.
Take care.
Hey @Popenet,
Thank you for your patience.
SInce a new update was released, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app. This is often an overlooked step, but it’s more thorough than a regular one and can be helpful to get rid of any previous cache that might be causing trouble.
However, we've tried to replicate this issue again from our end but it was unsuccessful. To keep investigating this further, could you tell us the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far?
We'll be on the lookout.
Well, before today I haven't tried any troubleshooting steps since I found the bug to be so easily replicable.
For reference, my first PC:
OS Name: Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
OS Version: 10.0.22000 N/A Build 22000
Spotify for Windows 1.1.81.604.gccacfc8c
I've just performed a clean install of Spotify on this PC (did it twice actually) and other than downgrading the Spotify version (from 1.1.82.758.g8b7b66c7 to 1.1.81.604.gccacfc8c) nothing else happened. I can still replicate the bug.
Second PC, laptop:
OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise
OS Version: 10.0.19044 N/A Build 19044
Spotify for Windows 1.1.81.604.gccacfc8c
On this laptop I've also managed to replicate the bug.
Since it's a laptop, I've also tried to connect to the Internet through my phones hotspot feature, just in case this bug has been caused by some kind of network configuration.
Just to be extra clear. To reproduce the bug you'll have to follow my instructions exactly. It's very important that you start a normal playlist first, with normal on-demand songs in it, and then queue a local song.
If you for example start playing tracks from your list of local files, then queue another local song, it won't work.
Is there any way to force update my Spotify client? It's a bit annoying having to wait for over a week to test a new release.
Hey @Popenet,
Thanks for the detailed reply.
We were able to replicate the issue this time around on Spotify for Windows 1.1.81.604.gccacfc8c. Other member running the 1.1.82. have reported that the issue is fixed on that release.
However, there is no way to manually force your app to update, as these get released gradually, so it might take a few days.
Keep us posted here if you get the app updated to the next version on both PCs and if the issue is still present.
Cheers.
I'm still experiencing the bug on 1.1.83.956.gbe7ea9a7.
