My Question or Issue

I use the Spotify App on my PC and listen to music while using it. The issue is that when I type the letter "S", it restarts the current playing music as if that key was binded to the "Back" or "Previous" button. It has already happened maybe a month ago or two, but the key doing it was "A" and I don't know what I did to stop it. I didn't mess with the Spotify bind configuration so it must be something else.

This behavior indeed is weird since typing this letter is not intended to repeat/restart your current song. If you want to see full list of keyboard shortcuts in the Spotify app - head to this article.

Probably an external software is turned on on your PC and it's interfering with the app's performance on your device. We'd recommend that you check this and make sure that there isn't one.

It might be a good idea to check if you've set some key mappings as well.

If none of the above is the case, could you please let us know if experience the same behavior when logged in on the Web Player?

I have only the main programs running such as Windows Security, Anti Virus, Intel Assistant, NVIDIA Definitions and ThunderMaster. I did some driver uptading, such as intel and on AppCenter, but nothing related to this issue. I tested on Web  Player and it seems to not restart the song, but on the app it does. It does show a window sometimes when the song restarts by pressing "S".

I noticed that this window also shows if I press "S" when a Youtube or Instagram video is playing, what makes me think it is like a "media player/manager".
I know this is a Spotify Support section, but can you give me some suggestion to fix it even if this goes outside of Spotify's extension?

Thanks for the post.

This issue is definitely caused by an app or a plug in on your PC, which is hijacking or changing some shortcuts. I've seen other people report similar issues, and the solution was to disable their Kaspersky antivirus. If you're using another anti-virus software, try disabling that for some time and test if songs keep resetting when you press 's'. It's also possible that ThunderMaster could be causing this, so if possible switch that off.
