[Desktop] Bring back the old behavior when clicking the player thumbnail

[Desktop] Bring back the old behavior when clicking the player thumbnail

Annoyed at how Spotify removed the old behavior when you click the thumbnail from the player.

It used to be that when you click the thumbnail from the player, it would navigate to the playlist and would automtically focus on the current song. What is happening now is that when you click the thumnail, the annoying Plaving View will keep showing.

Like how many times would someone look at the Playing View? We already have a dedicated button for that anyway.
This change annoys me constanty that I hate using their desktop app, and would youtube music instead.

Bring the old behavior back!

Hi @chicken_noodle,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

There’s currently a Live Idea to bring back the ability to click on the album art in the lower-left corner of the desktop app to return to the currently-playing song’s position in a playlist.

If it's something you’re interested in, I'd recommend adding your +VOTE to the idea; the more votes an idea gets, the likelier it is that Spotify will implement it, and you can read more about how feedback on ideas reaches Spotify here. You can also Subscribe to the idea by clicking the three dots next to its title; that way you can be sure to be informed of any relevant updates.

In the meantime, at the top of the "Now playing view" panel that you’ve mentioned, you can use the workaround of single-clicking the title of the playlist there to return to the currently-playing song's position in the playlist. Feel free to also read more about this recent change in the Top Answer from this thread, and let me know if you have any other questions.

Have a good day!

Note: I'm not a Spotify employee.

I'm not sure what question your asking but if you want to disable the player view you have go to your settings.

It needs to be turned off in both the Web Player and the Web App.

My Question / Issue

Spotify used to have a feature where if you clicked on the artwork in the bottom left-hand corner it would take you to the location where the song was playing and now it just opens up the "now playing view". Clicking on the artist or album doesn't take you to location it's playing from, it takes you to the source album. I want it to take me to the playlist it's playing from so I can browse around and always quickly come back to the playlist I was listening to. The worst is when I don't even remember what playlist I'm listening to. The queue can tell me, but I miss the one stop click that will bring me right to the song (very helpful in super long playlists). We already have the "now playing view" button - why did we have to change the behavior of the album artwork as a button?

If you feel like this is more intuitive for the album artwork, fine... I just want my button back somehow.
