My Question or Issue

At the Home page of Spotify app, on the first line is displayed "Recently played" field.

There is a single playlist displayed, named "This is WHY?", an album that I never listened. This cannot be removed and it is not updating even I reinstalled the Spotify app.

If I navigate to "YOUR LIBRARY" tab, the second field is "Recently played" and there I have totally different content. That's what I'm listening and what's there is updating as expected.

I am having the same issue with multiple different albums! They are the ones a hacker listened to months ago; however, they are still under recently played on my homepage.

I'm also having this same issue. The recently played is accurate on my phone however on the desktop app (Mac) the recently played shows one playlist that I only ever listened to once, months ago and haven't ever listened to since. If I go into 'Recently played' in my library then it's accurate but on the homepage it's only showing this one playlist which I don't listen to anymore and don't want to listen to.

Spotify version: 1.1.31.703.g256add22 still having this same issue.

Single position displayed in Recently played position at Home page is "frozen".

This cannot be removed and has not been updated for several days / weeks.

i also have this problem.

"recently played" on homescreen is bugged, while the playlist in library works.

1.1.31.703.g256add22 Windowsstore

I have the version 1.1.31.703.g256add22 and it's been weeks only showing one playlist called "New Indie Music Friday" and it seems that this problem came around last december. So this has been 5 months and still not fixed.

I've just spent an hour trying to figure this out.  I am having the exact same problem. A playlist I clicked through some songs on is stuck permanently in Home>Recently played.  I have removed it from recently played AND played 30 other things to try and get it to go away.  EVERY TIME I open up home I have the same picture of some goth woman constantly stocking me. Please make it stop.

1.1.31.703.g256add22 (Microsoft Store version)

Sam problem here.  Using Windows 10, Spotify version 1.1.31.703.g256add22.  It seems like this problem has been around for a long time.  I wish they would fix it.

I have found a workaround. Create a web app with chrome browser.

Open Spotify in chrome and save it as an app and it's pretty responsive but missing some features. You should give it a go. Go to Spotify in Chrome logged in> click on the three dots>More Tools>Create Shortcut. You should see a Spotify icon on your desktop.

Obviously this doesn't fix the Windows app... however if your recently played is stuck on something you don't listen too it will change those playlists IN the microsoft app. The web app is very responsive to our "recently played" dilemma but it has limitations including audio quality and local files. I'm starting to wonder if this is a windows problem. I'll report back as I have a machine with a fresh install on.

EDIT: not a windows problem. definitely the app. Same recently played errors on pc with fresh install of windows.

Yes.  When I play something in the web app it shows up on the "recently played" section on the home page of the desktop application.  My plan is to play a few of my favorites from the web app in order to push the old stuff off of the desktop app's recently played section.  Not a perfect solution, but I should at least be able to remove, or at least push back, some of that annoying old stuff.  Thanks.

Would like to jump in and report the same behavior on 1.1.32.618.gda5638a6 in US.

Only happening on my Windows 10 desktop PC and is quite annoying to see things from months ago under "Recently Played" on homepage.  Odd that the "Recently Played" under your library does show accurate info though.

Logging out, uninstalling, reinstalling did nothing.

Please fix Spotify, I don't to see front and center when opening your app Christmas playlists as "recently played" months after Christmas.

Also happening here on my mac. Can't find a resolution!

Yes, this still happens on the newest version (1.1.34.694.gac68a2b3), and it's definitely not a Windows problem as I just recently reinstalled Windows 10.

Happening on Linux build too.

Spotify version 1.1.10.546.ge08ef575

same issue with

Win 10

Spotify version 1.1.34.694.gac68a2b3

same here. Works fine on android phone, but OSX app shows something I don't think I have ever listened to, and it will not go away, whatever I play or do. It must be a bug, not a feature right?

Same problem! Using windows and on mobile. I can't remove an artist that I don't even like listening to on the "RECENTLY PLAYED" in the HOME tab.

I tried removing each of my Recently Played on my Library but it doesn't seem to be working.

Hey Spotify! Please fix this! This has been going on for months and It's annoying.

I'm on a Macbook Pro and having the same issue with version 1.1.34.694.gac68a2b3. It's very frustrating. It's stuck on a song I listened to once that I don't even like.

Same problem here.

I have my google home mini connected with Spotify. Once I tried to ask google assistant to play a certain song on Spotify, but she misunderstood me, and started playing Dua Lipa.

Since then, I see Dua Lipa on my home screen!!

I tried to unlink/log out/uninstall/reinstall everything, no difference.

Please fix this!

I am also experiencing this problem with the desktop app. As per TooSkinny's workaround solution, going to the web player in Chrome instead and playing some tracks there, and then re-launching the Spotify desktop app afterwards finally resulted in the recently played section of the home tab in the desktop app to update itself somewhat for me.

I say "somewhat" because it's still not showing the very last thing I played, but it is at least showing stuff I have played in the last hour and a playlist that was stuck in the first spot for a couple of days in which I had only listened to a couple songs once a few days ago has finally gone away at least, I didn't want to see it there anymore.

The recently played section under "your library" is always working correctly. Only the recently played section on the home tab is bugged.
