My Question or Issue

Getting the "unable to play" (see attachment) error message. Both desktop & browser apps. I even uninstalled & reinstalled per troubleshooting directions. Did not change. Tried offline mode & even my downloaded content wouldn't play. (I did redownload the playlist I tried after reinstalling). Is there an outage somewhere? Please help. It was fine last night & my phone app works fine.

Welcome to the Community and thanks for reaching out!

 

Does this happen with all artists/content on Spotify? If so, check your Windows' Sound Settings and make sure the sample rate is set to anywhere between 44.1 kHz and 192 kHz. You'll find a detailed guide in this article.

 

It's also worth checking if the correct audio output device is set for Spotify. More info on how to check that here.

 

If this happens specific songs/artists, perhaps you've selected "Don't play this artist" on the mobile app. Try navigating to an artist's page, tapping the three dots menu > Allow to play this artist to see if that does the trick.

 

In case none of the above helps, and this occurs with albums/tracks you haven't saved in your Liked Songs or other playlists, you might be experiencing this issue that's currently being investigated, so feel free to check out the relevant thread and Subscribe to stay tuned - we'll keep everyone posted in there as soon as we have any new info to share.
