My Question or Issue

The "Discover Weekly" playlist on each Spotify instance differs albeit having at least some songs in commin.

I would have expected both/all "Discover Weekly" playlists on the same account to be synchronized.

Especially if I listen on one device but controlling from the other, this fails for some network-error reason when trying to play songs which don't exist in both playlists.

Hi there @Jorra,

Thanks for reaching out.

This is quite odd, we weren't able to reproduce this issue so far and we haven't seen such reports about this. The playlist should always be the same across all devices. Could you please provide us the following:

  • Is this between all devices or only on those specific one(s)? What do you see on the webplayer?
  • When did this start happening? Did it work before?
  • Is only DW affected? What about other generated playlists like Daily Mixes, Release Radar or your Daylist?
  • Does this happen on different networks?
  • Screenshots or a video of the behaviour. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

Hi Joan,

first: thanks for the quick reply!

So I made some tests & screenshots

  • This happens only between the store apps of the two devices (both being Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
    1.2.48.405.gf2c48e6f).
  • The web player for both devices has the same songs in the same order in the playlist
  • IRONICALLY: the web player on device 1 shows the playlist time as 1:48, which I only get on device 2 in the store-app. Device 2 web player shows 1:45 like is on device 1 store app). So it's a bit criss-cross.
  • My Spotify on Android shows the same playlist as the web-player and device 1 ([...]_d1_[...].png in the screenshots attached)
  • Only the "discover weekly" playlist seems to be affected (checked some daily mixes and other playlists made by me)
  • Logging out and back in on device 2 storeapp does not help
  • Clearing the cache and offline files (from preferences) on device 2 storeapp, logging out and back in does also not help.
  • Using the tray-icon's troubleshooter to reset the app did ironically only close the app, not reset it.
  • Totally uninstalling the app on device 2 & reinstalling it, solves it for device 2, BUT now both storeapps show 1:48 playtime while both web players show 1:45 playtime albeit now having the same songs and song order as both store apps...

The URL for all playlists is the same.

Super weird.

Hey @Jorra,

Thanks for the detailed info! We've relayed it to the right folks 🙂
We can't provide you with an exact timeframe in which the issue will get addressed so we'd recommend keeping your apps up to date at all times. Let us know if you spot a change in behaviour on your end.
Much appreciated! Cheers 🙌🏼
