My Question or Issue

Why don't I have an equalizer in my desktop version of Spotify?
I tried deleting the "prefs" folder and the "Users" subfolder - it didn't help!

Hey @M4ssino,

Thanks for posting this thread and kudos for already deleting the folders.

Could you let us know when you noticed that the equalizer was missing? Was it after an update for example? It's worth mentioning that the equalizer can't be accessed when streaming via Connect. In this case we recommend finding out if the speaker/receiver you are streaming to, has a native equalizer built in the settings.

If you're not using Connect, as another troubleshooting step, you can give Spotify a clean reinstall just in case, which also gets rid of any corrupted cache files that are possibly causing performance issues.

We'll be on the lookout for your response 🙂

Hello, for some reason I never had an equalizer. It wasn’t there with premium, it wasn’t there without premium either. I don’t understand what kind of streaming is unfortunately. I use headphones with surround sound and adjusted bass, but even when connecting regular headphones there is still no equalizer

Thanks for the response @M4ssino.

Would you mind checking if the equalizer appears if you're streaming music directly from your PC's speakers and not via the external headphones? Do you see it when you're logged in to your account in the settings on another device (streaming music directly from the device)?

Here's a help article on Connect if you'd like to read some info about it.

Keep us posted 🙂

I tried streaming music directly from the speakers, but the equalizer still doesn't appear

Thanks for confirming @M4ssino.

At Spotify, we're often testing and launching improvements to the app. This means you might occasionally see something your friend doesn’t, or get a new feature to try temporarily. We’re regularly looking for opportunities to enhance the user experience for everyone though, so your feedback on this is greatly appreciated.

In the meantime, make sure you're always running the latest version of Spotify so you don't miss out on any updates.

The Community is always here if something else comes up.

Take care 💚

I just recently updated Spotify, so I'm sure I have the latest version installed

The instructions say you can turnoff Graphic Equaliser in Playback but nothing like that exists. I have only crossfade, transition and mono audio
