How do I fix my search bar when nothing is able to load and I can't reload?

How do I fix my search bar when nothing is able to load and I can't reload?

Whenever I type in my search bar, it says "Something went wrong" and says to reload, set when I click reload nothing happens and the screen stays the same. I have tried changing wifi and reopening and closing Spotify.

I am having the same issue using the web app installed through Edge and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. It seems to work if I access the web player in the browser.

Hi folks!

Interesting. I'd recommend clearing the app's cache and data by deleting the prefs file located in the Spotify installation folder to see if that does the trick:

  1. Start Spotify and make sure it’s running in the background.
  2. Open the Task Manager in Windows and switch to the Details tab.
  3. Locate the process Spotify.exe, right-click it and select Open file location to open the Spotify installation folder.
  4. There you'll find a file called prefs, which holds info about the currently logged in account. Simply delete it.
  5. While in the Spotify folder, you'll also find a Users folder. Open it and delete its contents as well.
  6. Restart the Spotify app.

Note that you'll be logged out and your settings will be reset, so you'll have to adjust them again. If you had music downloaded for offline listening, you'll have to re-download it as well. Your library, however, will not be affected, so no worries there.

You can also try installing Spotify from a different source: if you've installed the app from the Microsoft Store, try the one from our website instead, and vice versa.

Keep us posted on this. Cheers!

My Question or Issue

I could not find the charts in my Windows Spotify app, not the first time, so I did a quick google search to make sure I was not going crazy.

The spotify webpage for charts stated the following: "Find Spotify charts [...] in the Spotify app via Search > Charts.", however, when I navigate to the search tab in my Spotify app, I am greeted with a completely empty view, and just sole search bar at the top (which works fine still luckily).

I recall there being a few more things along side the charts for all the different countries, such as 'for you' playlists, but everything in the search tab is gone.
