My Question or Issue

How do I hide/dislike/ban specific songs ?

Why are we able to like everything so quickly but not able to dislike them ?

There is no option to hide/ban the song when I click the 3 dot or right click.

I can ban artists but there are songs that I hate and love from the same artist, but I just hate some of their songs, I don't want to see them in my mixes or playlists that I play. I don't want to change someone's playlist I just don't want them in my que.

Hi there @EfeTheCaptain

Thanks for reaching out. The dislike, or 'Hide This Song' button is present in Discover Weekly, Release Radar, any radios (playlist/artist/track) and Daily Mixes. Note on Daily Mixes - you'll need to click on three dots on the Mix and select "Go to Playlist Radio". Radios based on artists, albums or songs will work with Autoplay enabled. The Recommendations under the playlist cannot be disliked. You simply add what you like and ignore the rest. :slightly_smiling_face:

There's also some ideas about new functions that aren't in the app yet - check those out here and here.

Let me know if you need more help!

I didn't know that I could "partially" hide them using this extra step. Thanks.

But still, I can't ban the songs. I can hide them only in those playlist, how about I don't want to meet that specific song anytime in my life time ?

Hiding songs from the song radio's playlist doesn't even do anything, when I revisit the same playlist, songs that I have hidden comes back. It's just pure disappointment. 😪

Hey @EfeTheCaptain,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Hiding the song on all devices is only possible if you block the artist, so if you feel strongly about this, we'd suggest voting for the above mentioned ideas.

We hope this helps.

sorry but this is stupid, I keep seeing artists and songs that I don't like and I want to do something about it like block the artist.

i have a song i HATE. just HATE and it has like 30 latin spanish artists. so on ANY of their playlists that same song shows up. i HAAAAATE it. look up Color Esperanza 2020. and it makes me hate ALL those artists for singing in that song.

I'd suggest you make your app less shitty and impossible to navigate...

This is the best answer.  I find it extremely annoying that we can't ban songs that we don't like or that we don't want to hear anymore on a service that we pay quite a lot of money for.  I feel like this is so that it doesn't affect reach negatively, which is lame.  This is music, there are TONS of songs that repeatedly come up that I DO NOT want to hear, EVER AGAIN.  I don't want to outright ban a whole artist, I want to never hear certain tracks again.  Spotify, for the love of God, please give us the power to ban tracks, and ban them with ease.

We, Spotify's customers, do not want to vote for any of those unsuitable solutions. We want to be able to ban specific songs from our accounts. This is an absolute BASIC of a customisable streaming music service. The ability to like, save and ban songs is the full spectrum of customisation. I'm pretty sure you used to be able to do this. Is there a commercial reason that Spotify stopped this? Because customers come first. Not pressure from record companies. There's alternatives now. I'm getting to the point where I'm thinking about rebuilding my playlists on Tidal and switching services.

As one of the others said on this thread: for the love of god, or perhaps a customer base loyalty, please introduce the ability to ban songs.

'Hide This Song' button no longer present in web player. Fix it, please.

This has been requested since 2019? Seriously a dislike button is needed ASAP. If it doesn't happen soon, I'll go back to my old subscription on a competitors service. I'm done skipping the same songs over and over again.

Odd that a simple feature like "do not play this particular song again" doesn't exist on your app in 2024.   Lazy programming.

Oh it's not lazy programming, it's outright "we don't care if our customers don't like it..it makes us money". I would bet that Spotify gets their cut of the play revenue within the first 5 seconds or something like that, and if they force people to skip the song rather than ban it, they end up making a decent amount of money from NOT allowing users to ban songs... Until all of their customers get a different app that is.. which is obviously happening.

This is so typical of modern apps: an obvious flaw widely flagged up, and the response is to vote on dumb non-solutions. I HATE Metallica's cover of Whiskey in a Jar but like a lot of their other stuff; I can't stop that song without blocking all Metallica? Its not as if I'm not paying for this 'service'
