I can't login into my account on Spotify Desktop app (Error code: desktop_login_accounts:4)

I can't login into my account on Spotify Desktop app (Error code: desktop_login_accounts:4)

Plan: Free Country: Viet Nam Device: Laptop Operating System: Windows 11 My Question or Issue: -Issue: Can't login into my account on Spotify Desktop App -Backstory: Yesterday, I installed and turned on a VPN extension (Touch VPN) to Google Chrome to fix my Roblox menu page Then I came back to Spotify to realize that I got logout of my Spotify account (both Web and App) I turned off the VPN extension and when I tried to login back to my account on app then it shows "Go to your browser to login" which means that the app is going to automatically pops up a Login tab for the App for me but in this case there were no App login tabs Then I went to Google Chrome to login into my Web account with a hope that if I login there, I can login into my app account But after logging in and going back to the app, I still couldn't login into my account in the app Then I clicked on "Try again" but still nothing, instead it sends me back to the login button, causing a loop => In short, the reason I can't login into my account in the Desktop app is because there were no login tabs popping up - Solutions I tried: Deleting the VPN, restarting my device, reinstalling the app and mindlessly changing the proxy settings and reopening the app (not a computer expert) - My current proxy settings: Proxy type: Autodetect settings I really need and appreciate help. I dont like using the Web account bc I like using the smart shuffle feature ToT

Hey there @Ari_Snowdrop,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for sharing these details. It helps us get a better understanding of the situation.

Using a VPN can cause issues with Spotify and it's possible that this is the reason for the loop. That's why we don't recommend it, but since you've disabled the VPN let's test with some further troubleshooting to see if it'll change anything.

Great job for already performing some actions in hopes to resolve this behavior, but I think it's worth repeating some of the steps in combination with others just in case.

You mentioned a reinstall, but I recommend checking out the steps here which are for a more detailed clean reinstall. After that, please clear the hosts file with these steps and attempt logging in.

It's also worth mentioning that on Windows, you can download Spotify both from our website and from the MS store so what you can do is to download the version that you weren't using so far.

Appreciate the cooperation and keep us posted 🙂
