My Question or Issue

Hello Spotify Support Team,

I'm experiencing an issue with Spotify's integration on Discord, where the "Listening to Spotify" status does not appear on my Discord profile, even though my account is properly linked. I've tried multiple troubleshooting steps, but the issue persists.

Issue Details:

When I link my Spotify account to Discord, my friends should be able to see what I'm listening to. However, the status does not appear at all.

Steps I Have Already Tried:

  1. Unlinking and Relinking Accounts

    • I removed the Spotify connection from Discord and reconnected it multiple times, but the issue remains.
  2. Logging Out and Back In

    • I logged out of both Spotify and Discord, then logged back in, but it did not fix the problem.
  3. Running Both Applications as Administrator

    • I launched Spotify and Discord as an administrator on Windows, but it didn’t make a difference.
  4. Reinstalling Spotify and Discord

    • I completely uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify, but the issue persisted.
    • I did the same with Discord, and nothing changed.
  5. Checking Discord Settings

    • I ensured that "Display Spotify as your status" is enabled in the Connections settings on Discord.
  6. Enabling "Device Broadcast Status" in Spotify

    • I went into Spotify settings and enabled "Device Broadcast Status", but Discord still doesn’t detect my listening activity.
  7. Trying Discord Web Instead of the App

    • I logged into Discord via a web browser (Google Chrome & Firefox) and reconnected Spotify, but the issue remained.
  8. Ensuring Spotify Is Only Running on My PC

    • I checked to make sure Spotify isn’t running on another device (e.g., my phone or smart TV) while using Discord.
  9. Disabling VPN and Trying a Different Network

    • I don’t usually use a VPN or Proxy, but I switched networks (used mobile data instead of Wi-Fi) and the issue persisted.
  10. Testing with a Different Account

  • I tried using a different Spotify account with my Discord, but the issue still occurred.
  • I also tried logging into Discord with a different account, but Spotify still wouldn’t show up.

Additional Notes:

  • This issue only happens with Spotify—Discord is able to detect and display the games I’m playing without any problems.
  • Spotify itself works fine, and I have no issues playing music.

I would really appreciate your help in resolving this issue. If there are any additional steps I should try, please let me know.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Best regards,
[Khalid]

Hey @SirKhalid,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

We appreciate all the troubleshooting you've tried so far. To continue investigating this issue, would you mind reinstalling both apps on Safe mode to see if it makes any difference?

Also, could you disconnect your Spotify from Discord again, but this time making sure to also remove the access to Discord from the Apps section in the account overview as mentioned in this article.

Lastly, would you mind trying on a different device to see if the behavior persists? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
