Hi everyone,
I seem to be facing a peculiar problem. I marked most old episodes on a podcast as 'played' on the movile app. But the status does not sync with Desktop client. Its frustrating because that would seems like a logical thing that should happen, given that the status of the episode currently being played has no issue syncing. Is anyone else facing this issue? Any workarounds that you may have found given that marking multiple episodes on the dektop app is not an option?
Hey there @Helba,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community 🙂
We tested this from our end but couldn't replicate the issue you mention. In this case, we'd suggest performing a clean reinstall of the app on your phone and computer to clear any cache that might be causing trouble.
If this doesn't do the trick, could you let us know the make, model and OS version of your devices, along with the Spotify version of both apps? We'll take a deeper look into this.
Keep us posted.
The issues seems to be still there after reinstalling both the phone app and the desktop player. Marking episodes en-masse as played does the following. In the phone, all epsiodes are marked as i intended, in the web player only some are marked as they were on the phone (up until a certain date, the date is a cut off point), and nothing at all is reflected in the desktop app.
Phone: Xiaomi Redmi Note 9s, Androind, App version 8.7.20.1261
PC: Windows 11, App version 1.1.81.604.gccacfc8c
Hey @Helba,
Thanks for the reply and the info submitted.
This seems a bit odd, since nothing is marked as played on the Desktop app. Can you let us know if any other changes are not synced between the mobile and desktop app. For instance, you can try adding some songs to a playlist and checking if that is synced in real time.
Also, let us know if this is happening on only one podcast or all that you've tried.
Looking forward to your reply.
So the issue seems to be limited to podcasts only and the issue is present in all podcasts. Saving individual songs or albums works as intended.Saving songs to a playlist, even if i make it anew, works flawlesly. Overall, played status of a podcast is not carried from app to desktop and vice versa. However, changes are instant between web player and desktop app so the issue is somewhere with the app, at least on my phone/flavour of Android.
Hey @Helba,
Thanks for the reply.
Could you try replicating the issue using another account on your mobile phone and the desktop app?
It is also important to be connected to the same network during this and logout/login again a few times with your original account so we can prompt a synchronization.
If this doesn't work, we'd need the Spotify version on both your devices together with their brand/model and operating system.
Keep us posted,
Cheers!
Did you ever figure this out? I seem to have the same issue even between 2 phones on the same account. So one dies, and I pick up on the other and the last thing I was listening to might show up wanting me to switch devices, but Nothing I listened to in the last 5 or 6 hours is "played". It makes sorting it out without relistening a pain.
Hey there @GoingGreenMom,
Thanks for joining!
Have you already tried any of the suggested troubleshooting steps in this thread? Did anything make a difference?
As cache stored on your device(s) can cause different issues with Spotify's performance we recommend clearing it and you can take a look here.
What you can also do is make sure that Spotify's allowed to play in the background on both phones and if the issue persists, it'd be great if you could send us the makes, models and OS-versions of the two mobiles so we can investigate this further.
Thanks for the cooperation 🙂
Hello,
I actually managed to forget i had this issue open. None of the tips suggested have worked and all of them: i cleared cache, reinstalled the app, cleared cache again, logged in and out...Then i switched to a differed phone (Samsung) and all issues disappeared. I can only conclude that at least my problem was related to Xiaomi and the phone's software.
