Metadata broken for local music files FLAC

Metadata broken for local music files FLAC

On windows and to some extent on android.

I rip my Cds to FLAC and download other files from bandcamp in FLAC, It's even worse with WAV.  Unlike other music players, spotify completely breaks the metadata. Album covers do not display at all and album name and band name do not display correctly. Is there a fix or is this just a lack of support? Songs from bandcamp work correctly on android but ripped Cds do not.

Hi @TheLazyDayLily,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for reaching out!

At the moment Spotify is optimized to work best with local .mp3 files. While the app will still play audio files in other formats such .flac or .wav, the metadata cannot be properly read, as shown in the screenshots you've attached.

I'd recommend posting a request about it in our Idea Exchange board. Others can then give it a thumbs up to show their support and share their feedback. As a fellow local files enjoyer myself, I think it'd be awesome if the app supported all metadata for .flac or .wav files, so I'll make sure to add in my vote!

In the meantime, you can re-download the files in 320kbps .mp3s instead so that the app shows the metadata properly. If you have local files in your playlists, you'll also be able to sync them between your devices by following the steps here.

Cheers!

i cant post in idea submissions. It says i need to add a label but when i do, it says "the following labels are not available here." I have tried every single label, 3 different browsers, my home IP, my work IP, and 2 different computers and I just cannot post, please help.

Hey @TheLazyDayLily,

Thanks for getting back to us.

We're aware of some label issues on our Ideas board, but we're currently looking into them and we'll keep everyone updated in this thread (please note that we've merged your other post here).

Cheers,
