My Question or Issue
When I play a song, it plays for 5 secons aproximately and then it stops playing (look at the video I send you). On other occasions, songs simply don't play. Could you help me?
Solved! Go to Solution.
I have two solutions!! The first one only works for windows, the second one for both windows and mac.
First solution: you have to edit the "hosts" file:
- Press windows key, type "Notepad" and open it as an administrator.
- In Notepad, press File > Open, and go to "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc"
- Open "hosts" file, and eliminate the lines below a line with a # and spotify on it. You have to delete the lines with a lot of ip adress below that line.
This user has screenshots, you should delete the part he circles: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Windows/La-M%C3%BAsica-se-detiene-despues-de-unos-segundos-...
With this solution, the newest version of spotify will be fixed.
Second solution: just install another version of spotify:
This is an error of the last version of spotify, so in mac installing an older version of spotify should work. However, you should look for old versions online.
On windows, you can download then from here: https://spotify.uptodown.com/windows/old
I am currently having the same exact issue, except my plan is not premium. I've seen a lot of different posts that were similar to this, but I haven't found a solution that has worked for me yet. Uninstalled and reinstalled twice. Disabled and enabled many things in my settings...
I have done the same, reinstalled three or more times, deleted the caché, changed settings, ... Nothing works. In my Android smartphone it works correctly, however.
Hi! It happens the same for me from my macbook, it's so strange it ony works for 6 seconds and than the song stops... If you find any solution I would be very grateful.
Thank you!

Hi! It works for me on my macbook! Now is loading and reproducing every song correctly!
I delete all the lines related to spotify inside de host file in my Macbook:
I follow this exact process:
- Go to /private/etc/hosts file.
If there are any ip addresses like 127.0.0.1 open.spotify.com, comment or remove them
- Log out from Spotify and clear cache: /Library/Caches/com.spotify.client/Storage/
- Restart your Mac
I did that and it's working correctly, thank you so much for all the help!!!
