In the new version 0.8.8.349 there is no pause/next/previous buttons when you hover over the spotify application on Win7 task bar. This was so convenient to pause music quickly. Please add this back

That functionality is still there - you have to disable the hide from taskbar when closed option.

I found the setting and it is not enabled...

My media controls have vanished from the spotify task bar entry as well, not sure when, but it was recently.
It is very annoying - I don't have media controls on my keyboard and I relied on the task bar controls.
Happy to do tests, install debug code etc.

This was my work PC, I just remoted in from home to check and of course it is now working 🙂
However, at work I have dual monitors and I had just closed everything down for reboot so maybe that made a difference.
I'll check again tomorrow.

this has been working fine, for some reason after an update it was hidden. Just followed the steps given afte the original post:

I found that those controls would dissapear when I pinned the icon to the taskbar. I unpinned it and restarted spotify and the controls are back.
just run as administrator, close and open as user (normal)
