Playback switches to phone by itself

I would be listening to Spotify through the desktop app on my computer, and all of a sudden, the music would stop playing from my computer speakers and continue playing from my phone (Samsung Galaxy S6) instead. The switch occurs automatically, without any input from me at all. This happens several times a day, and started a few days ago. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated, thank you for reading.

I'm getting the same behavior between a Windows 10 machine and a Google Pixel phone.

This is so frustrating

Problem 1) I have to turn off my Bluetooth but I need my ear buds for phone calls but Spotify takes over. 

Problem 1A) If I disconnect my earbuds then the volume for other apps (on my S23) is only controlled by the computer volume settings until I disable my Bluetooth.
