My Question or Issue

When gaming my spotify app will randomly pause and then unpause a bit after or I have to alt tab and manually click the play button. However instead of pausing sometimes spotify will just replay one part of the song over and over and over again and its just frustrating while gaming to be having this experience.

Does anyone know any fixes for this issue?

What I have tried so far is reinstalling the app (from Microsoft store and Spotify itself), as well as turning off hardware acceleration in spotify, and putting proxy to "no proxy" in spotify.

However, using Spotify in browser works just fine.

Before upgrading my pc components I did not have issue. (went from MSI B460M PRO-VDH to GIGABYTE Z690 Aorus Elite AX Motherboard, and i5 10400f to i5 12600k)

Hi @D006,

Thanks for reaching out. Consider performing a full clean reinstall if you haven't already, that can help clear a variety of issues. If the behaviour persists, please send us a screen recording so we can investigate further. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

Hope this helps.

I mean I forgot to add Ive reinstalled it from Microsoft store and from
Spotify itself I’m not sure if it was a clean reinstall but I deleted it
and installed it.

Hey @D006

Thanks for letting us know, the clean uninstall follows specific steps so that no leftover files will affect the new download of the app. Did the issue persist after the uninstall? Also its worth mentioning that we advise the use of the downloadable version provided on our website, as it is prioritized over the Microsoft Store version.

If after following the steps the issue still persists could we ask you to share a recording with us please? That way we could better see the exact way this issue manifests itself and will be able to troubleshoot further.

We`ll be on the lookout, keep us posted.

Hey @MartinT

I have performed a clean reinstall and these issues are still persisting while I am gaming and it is a bit annoying. I was able to get a clip of both cases (music pausing, and music repeating and going back to normal)

This link that is pasted below this text is a google drive folder which contains both clips:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1iMb_JoawmXCm64gzJhvkalDbYt3XQeDv?usp=drive_link

Let me know if there is any problem accessing the videos, as well as if you find a solution to these issues or if I can provide anything else to fhelp you guys out.

Hey @D006,

Thanks for the quick turnaround! Sorry to hear that the uninstall didn`t get the job done. Could you please edit the access to the file and make it public, as right now we cant open it.

I have some questions for you to help us narrow down where this issue might originate from. You mentioned this started occurring after you updated some of your computers components.

- Have you tried listening to music from our web player?

- Does that player also cut up the audio?

- Could you try playing music through YouTube and let it run in the background for a game or two, see if the problem persists?

-Has this problem persisted through multiple output methods ( headphones, speakers, Bluetooth speakers ) ?

For now could you take a look at these questions and get back to us with the unlocked Google drive and some more info and we will do our best to get to the bottom of this!

Keep us in the loop.

Hey, I have tried using the web player, and it worked just fine last time I
remember I can try it again today to confirm this.

Also I have made the files public so you can view it. Here’s the link again
just in case:

Hey there @D006,

Thanks for the reply and for the videos!

So that we can look into it further, would you mind providing us with the info requested by @MartinT earlier in the thread? It would be great if you could give the Web Player another shot too, to see if you notice any difference.

Also, just to confirm, does this only happen when using Spotify in the background of a game? Or does the same thing happen at other points as well?

Let us know how it goes.

Hey @Maria,
What info is it that you need? If you’re talking about the videos I have
already provided them, and made them public.

Oh I see, yes I will make sure to definitely try these things out and I’ll let you know.

Here is a link to 2 clips showing each scenario:

Sometimes i start to listen to music and the app just pause the song. each 29 seconds. how do i fix this? even in my cellphone the same thing happen.

Hey @D006,

Thanks for the clips and apologies for the late reply. We've moved your latest post to this thread to avoid clutter. Please reply here from now on since starting multiple threads about the same issue goes against our Community guidelines.

Now, regarding your issue, another thing you can try is updating/reinstalling you audio drivers and checking if the issue happens when using a different account. If yes, please send us your exact Spotify version so we can investigate further.

Also, make sure to check the rest of the suggestions posted by Martin.

Cheers,

I think I possibly fixed it myself. Before upgrading everything was fine,
and then when I upgraded I had this Norton 360 for gamers installed and it
was the only thing that was different so I decided to uninstall it. Now
everything seems to be working fine. I’ve yet to have the issue again. But
idk
