I have two Playlists in this scenario: Playlist A and Playlist B. If I start playing Playlist A, and then start playing Playlist B after, Playlist B starts playing songs from Playlist A. These playlists do not share any songs. This is happening to me on BOTH mobile and desktop.
The only thing that is temporarily fixing it is either forcing it closed with task manager or force closing the app in my settings - depending on if I am on PC or mobile.
However, the problem keeps happening again and I don't know how to stop it.
Basically, I play some songs from Playlist A, move to Playlist B, and then it's after each and every song of Playlist B that songs from Playlist A starts playing.
This issue is NOT specific to these two playlists. It is happening with multiple playlists. My queue is also clear.
Hey @TheLittleGina,
Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.
In this case, we'd like to gather some additional info. Would you mind sending us the make/model and OS of the affected devices along with the Spotify version you're running there?
On another note, and just to confirm, does this happen when playing a specific playlist or does it happen no matter what playlist you choose to play? If not sure, it'd be awesome if you could check.
Lastly, it'd be great if you sent us a short video recording of what's happening, so we can better visualize what you're mentioning. Make sure we can see your queue and the Now playing view. You can attach the videos in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload them to YouTube or Google Drive and make them public, so we can watch them.
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
It happens to me as well. I have added a playlist to a queue and cannot stop it. Every time I change the music, it returns to the old playlist on the next song.
Hi there @stanimir93,
Thanks for your reply in this thread.
This is indeed odd behavior. Just to check, is this happening for you on one device in particular or across all devices?
Now, you mention this happens when you add a playlist to the Queue. If the songs that are in the Queue haven't finished, this would be expected. Are you clearing the Queue before starting to play the other playlist? If not, make sure you open the Queue and select the option 'Clear queue'. If that doesn't help, could you send over a screenshot of how your Queue looks when you hit play on the other playlist?
Lastly, could you send the make/model and OS of the affected devices along with the Spotify version you're running there as @AlejaR requested?
Keep us posted!
Hi Susan,
Thank you. Clearing it helped.
However, it is very unintuitive.
When I start a new playlist, I would expect it to play the whole playlist and not only the first song. (unless I manually clear the old playlist).
Hi @stanimir93,
Thanks for your reply. We're glad to know that worked.
Bear in mind that if you have Premium you don't need to add the playlist to the queue for Spotify to play the whole thing. You can simply find the playlist and hit the play button. Spotify will play all the songs that are in that playlists until they're finished. If you don't add any songs to the Queue, you can go to any other playlist, at any time, and hit play there for Spotify to immediately start playing all the songs from that new playlist.
However, if you add anything to the Queue, Spotify will prioritize that until it's over. That's what the Queue is for, and you can clear it anytime with the steps we sent.
Lastly, we understand you’d like it to be different, and we appreciate you taking the time to let us know. We always aim to improve, so we’ll get this passed on to the right team.
Have a nice day!
