My Question or Issue

the Spotify web player ends up not working after I log in, displaying the error message "something went wrong, try reloading the page."
regardless on if I reload the page, restart my device, log out and log in again, make a new account, none of it works. same goes for the desktop app, it won't let me play any music whatsoever. the app works on my phone, so I'm mostly confused why it's not working on my laptop.

I have tried completely clean uninstalling Spotify and installing it again, but I keep having the same issue.
my web browsers are both completely up to date and I made sure to double check that none of my plugins were active on the tabs just in case they were interfering, but still no progress has been made.

Hey @OrangeOverload

Thanks for getting back to us.

It sounds like the issue is device-related. In this case, we'd recommend clearing up your hosts file by following these steps.

If the issue persists, we suggest that you check your firewall and make sure Spotify is set as an exception and disable any antivirus or ad-blocking software that might be active on your PC to see if that makes the difference.

Let us know how it goes.

Hey @OrangeOverload,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

This sounds like a network issue. Do you have a VPN active on the PC? Make sure to turn it off and try again. Does the web player or the desktop app work when using a hot spot from the mobile device?

Keep us posted.

Cheers!

i do not have a VPN active, no. and it also does not appear to be working when i use the hotspot from my phone, it keeps giving me the same error message.

Hey @OrangeOverload,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the shared info.

To make sure this is not account-related, it would also be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member, to see if the issue persists.

If so, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.

Lastly, could you confirm if the PC you're using is a personal PC or a work PC?

We'll be on the lookout.

my account seems to work on other devices/web players, however no matter what account i use on my end i receive the same error message. i've tried it with a couple different accounts from my friends and the results remain the same.

my laptop is my personal PC.
