My Question or Issue

Windows app can only play a song if it is in a playlist or liked songs, not from the search. Trying to play a song from the search that is not in a playlist will just show no album art/song details and will play nothing. Adding the song to a playlist will make it play fine from search. No playlists are set to download!

This is localised to this device only, songs in playlists play fine, Spotify web player works completely fine.

I have already re installed Spotify, tried various things in settings like audio quality, crossfade and hardware acceleration, deleted caches, checked firewall settings, changed audio outputs.

Video Attached,

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hey @SoSoHoovan,

Thanks for posting in the Community and the extensive troubleshooting you've already tried.

Are you able to reproduce this issue with a different account on the affected device?

If you're using a VPN connection, turn it off. Also try a different internet connection like a hot spot from your phone.

Let us know how that went,

Cheers!

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Tried another account and using my phones wifi and still the same problem. Also not using a VPN.

Trying to avoid re-installing windows.....

Cheers

Hey @SoSoHoovan,

Thank you for keeping us in the loop.

We appreciate the troubleshooting you've done so far, but to be sure that we're on the same page - did you use these steps for a clean reinstall? They are more thorough than a regular one. That way you can make sure the cache is not causing this issue.

Also, would you mind checking with a different WiFi network to see if it makes any difference? In case you don't have another network available, you can use a mobile data hotspot to test it.

Lastly, if the issue persists, include in your next response the Spotify version you're currently running. This will give us a better look at the issue.

We'll be on the lookout.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I have done the thorough uninstall steps before, but have done them again as per the link you sent. I have also tried with the hotspot off my phone. Still having the same problem.

My version is-

Spotify for Windows
1.1.91.824.g07f1e963

Thanks,

Miles

Hey @SoSoHoovan,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info sent.

Just to confirm, are you using a VPN or a digital VPN? The digital VPN is usually started by the antivirus in the background as a way of data protection online. In case you have McAfee, 360 Total Security or a different antivirus that may have WiFi protection by digital VPN, check if the VPN option or Secured WIFi are activated. If so, toggle it off, try again, and let us know if it makes any difference.

Also, check in the antivirus settings if Spotify is excluded from the firewall restrictions and has all the required permissions. This will give us a better look to keep investigating your case. Thank you again for your patience and cooperation.

We'll be on the lookout.

My solution was to run a Total uninstaller program and Delete the spotify fully out of computer manually with third party total uninstaller. I reinstalled and couldnt believe this was a solve for me!
