Zooming not scaling properly with the new desktop UI

Zooming not scaling properly with the new desktop UI

With the new UI, I cannot access my profile while using the Desktop app because the "minimise" button covers it up as it is WAY too large. Zooming in fixes but this shouldn't be an issue for ANY zoom levels as it is inconvenient for users. The "Going back/Going forward" buttons also get blocked, this time by the three dots, and that is more annoying, to me, as I use them constantly.

Hey folks,

Our tech team is currently investigating this. While we can't provide an ETA for a fix at the moment, rest assured this issue remains on our radar and should get addressed in a future update, so make sure you're always running the latest version of Spotify.

The Community is here for you in case you need anything else in the meantime. Cheers!

Hi there @ElizabethSusanLibra,

Thanks for reaching out and bringing this to our attention.

We're always looking for opportunities to enhance the user experience and your feedback on this is greatly appreciated. Could you just confirm the exact version of Spotify you're running?

In the meantime, make sure to keep the app updated.

Cheers 🤘

When using the option to zoom in or out on the Windows desktop app, it does not scale the windows buttons in the top right correctly or the 3 dots in the top left which makes some functions of the app inaccessible

Here is the attached video evidence to support my claim

I use the spotify windows app and recently, after I updated it the go back and my profile buttons are obscured by the more options button covers the go back button and minimize covers the profile button

Hey there @FusionzZKnight,

Welcome to the Community!

Thanks for reporting this behavior of the app. We want to pass the info on to the relevant team here so they can investigate further.

It'd be very helpful if you could send us the exact Spotify-version you're using, as well as your device's make, model and the version of the operating system.

Thanks and we'll be on the lookout 🙂

My Question or Issue

If you zoom out the spotify window (I have to do this as default looks really huge on my screen) using ctrl + minus, the window buttons (minimize, full screen, close) start overlapping your profile button and therefore it becomes really hard to press on it.

Attachments
First - default size (so in the new UI they decided to make them fit with the top nav bar, by making them huge)
Second - zoomed out

Here is the required info if you need anything else such as system hardware then let me know.

Kind regards

Hi there @maxxxxdumpling! Thanks for reaching out to us and welcome to the Community! 🙂

Spotify often tests improvements and new features for its content, which means you might see something on the app your friend doesn't, or get a new feature to try temporarily. You can read more about this here.

Rest assured, we'll make sure to pass your feedback along to the proper team!

Hope this helps clear things up.

Note: I'm not a Spotify employee.

My desktop app updated it seems like and now the GUI layout is all on top of each other (did you guys even test it out yourselves...?) The page forward and page back buttons as well as any account buttons are covered by the ... in the top left and the _ □ X in the top right so on top of difficulty navigating from previous updates, now theres this. I am on Windows 10 on a laptop.

Happened to me too. I'm also on win10

Im using Version 1.2.33.1042.g26c92729 for Spotify Windows 64 bit and as the OP for this thread you mentioned me to said, zooming in or out using Ctrl +/- works but it's just inconvenient to use. I attached a screenshot to this reply and hopefully it can be used to address the problem.

Thanks for the info folks! We've forwarded this to our tech team who'll investigate further. We'll keep you posted here as soon as we have any updates, stay tuned!

Cheers 🤘

Size of the window control buttons on win11 desktop app don't follow zoom level selected in app, so when I decrease zoom their size stays same and covers my profile icon.

With the window resized as shown in this screenshot, the only regions that can be used to click & drag the window are the ones circled in orange.
This is incredibly frustrating.

I also have the same problem

Os: Windows 11 Home

Version: 10.0.22631 Build 22631

Device: Samsung 950QED

please fix this as spoitfy zoomed in is so bad because you can not see as many songs, yet I have no choice but to use it.

Encountering this UI problem since the recent updates for the desktop app. I prefer smaller texts on the desktop app, but when I zoom it out, the buttons at the top bar (back, forward, profile avatar on the right side) get covered with the 3-dot button on the left, and on the right the minimize, maximize, and close buttons.

I look forward to this being fixed! I've been training myself to use Alt+Left Arrow instead of the back button, but I still get caught out daily.

Many thanks to those who pointed out that you have to zoom in to fix it. My instinct was to zoom out.

I recently started trying Spotify out after having used YouTube Music for a few years, and I must say, the looks of the UI and navigation seems like a HUGE step back for me. Honestly, contemplating switching back. I also do not appreciate having to test this new UI out as a new customer, because this is a horrible first impression.
