Hi there @VQV03,

Thanks for the post.

You can block artists using your mobile app. Just open the artist profile > Click the 3-dot menu and select "Don't play this". This option is not available through the Desktop app.

Hope this info helps.

Alex, thanks for the tip, but this does not work - my case in point is that in the region I'm in there is no Spotify Kids, so I'm using my account with explicit content blocked. Still my 7 yo kid, when searching for an episode of history podcast (fan of napoleon) was directed to a **bleep**-BDSM podcast. Now it is in history (which I can't erase) and the option you mention does not exist (tried on ipad / iphone and desktop - the latter I understand does not work 'by design').

When I use the 3-dot I can only subscribe, share, evaluate (stars) or share this podcast I absolutely want to get rid of.

And I am a Premium user, so I even pay for this.

This is ridiculous.

Was this feature removed?

Hi @f_uckspawtify,

Thanks for your reply in this thread.

The option is still available, but only from the mobile app. You can follow the steps given by @Alex. If you don't see the option, make sure your app is up to date, and if it is, you can try to reinstall Spotify. You won't lose any content.

If you're still unable to do it, send over a screenshot of the option you see when clicking the 3 dots from an artist profile.

We'll be here.

Why is it only on Mobile? I would like the explanation for that decision. Either have all options available on both mobile and desktop, or don't have a desktop app. I should have the exact same functionality on both. Honestly it comes across as incompetence.

I just came across this issue when I heard a certain artist I have had blocked as do not play for YEARS while I was using the desktop app. I had to double check my mobile app to see if I was going crazy. This really needs to be fixed to work on all platforms, makes zero sense for it to be different on both. I do NOT under any circumstances want to listen to this artist so having this set differently on different platforms is a terrible user experience.

Can we please, for the love of shiny, have it so if they're blocked on one app, they're blocked on ALL versions of your app?
I have 2 bands blocked for personal reasons and they popped up on a playlist. This is not something I want to listen to and I should be able to listen on EITHER PC or mobile to ignore this, not just have them ignored on mobile.
This isn't okay, so if there is ANYWAY, to forward this from your side, it'd be appreciated.

If music be the food of love, play on. ~William Shakespeare

to add on to this I'm also premium why cant o actually like or dislike my suggestions for the play lists & i also can't block things like the hazbin hotel track because it sucks

I'm in the block from anywhere/block everywhere camp!

Yeah I guess I'm hooked on the spotify Kool-aid. I've been a Premium member for many years and the user experience continues to get worse. Not better. What are we paying for? There's no excuse for not being able to block artists on the desktop app. Get it together Spotify!

It's so riddiculous,
dear owner/admin/dev/whoever, please turn back this option to desktop app also, it's super annoying when you have to skip in every minte songs or artists that you don't like... ESPECIALLY that, there so feature on mobile app.

THERE IS NO ANY LOGIACAL REASON TO NOT IMPLEMENT THAT OPTION, you just pissing off your clients, I'll change my music app to YouTube Music again, because there are many artists or songs that I unliked in some time and I'm sick off continuous skipping THE SAME songs/artists...

THANKS!, it's just good advice.

Given how obvious this feature is I can only imagine that it's on a backlog somewhere of enhancements to implement for the PC. I'm going to also guess more Spotify users regularly use the mobile app and so it gets more attention, has a larger team. Probably every PC user also uses it on mobile, but not always the other way around. That said, come on guys. This is like a day one feature for most music apps. Please get it implemented already.

My Question or Issue

Add the incredibly basic feature of blocking an artist from all generated playlists / AI DJ play on Windows desktop.  I'm sick of being forced to financially support people like Marilyn Manson, R Kelly, and Kanye West if I want to use these advertised features.  Absolutely insane that there is not feature parity for such a basic and HIGHLY REQUESTED feature.
Quit forcing me to support people that are absolute monsters in real life if I want to use the features I'm paying for.

I don't want that singer Tony Effe appear in the app since his lyrics are absolutely inappropriate for kids. Differently from other "explicit lyrics" songs that are more manageable

Ridiculous. Why an artist can be blocked on mobile but not on PC? Should I have another feelings for them when using PC?
