my music won't play ever since i set the streaming quality to high

my music won't play ever since i set the streaming quality to high

I tried to edit my streaming quality to very high on the Desktop App (Windows) and ever since then, it gives me the "spotify can't play this right now. if you have the file on your computer you can import it." error.

Hi there @maonya! Welcome to the Community!

Have you tried switching to a different internet connection, like a hotspot, to see if it helps? Sometimes the issue is network-related.

Also, double-check if you're using a VPN - it could be messing with the connection or region settings, which might cause the error.

Lastly, if you haven't already, this process can help you get rid of any cache that might be causing issues on your device.

Hi, I appreciate the speedy response, thank you.

I do not have a hotspot or another method of connection, therefore I cannot attempt this method.
I do not use a VPN, and I am connected directly via Ethernet.

I have tried reinstalling via both the Spotify website and the Microsoft Store, and the issue persists on both.
Also, this issue only persists on the Desktop Applications. On both web browser and my phone, my Spotify music plays fine. Which is another reason why I believe the issue is not network related, but maybe application related.

Thanks @maonya!

Can you confirm whether changing the settings back to Normal or High resolves the issue?

You can also try running Windows in Safe Mode with Networking. If Spotify works fine there, you could adjust different network settings or uninstall any software that might be conflicting with Spotify's connectivity.

Keep me in the loop.
