My Question or Issue

On the homepage, there's this annoying section with image placeholders (with a loading animation), they load infinitely.

Hey @lumiuko,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

That's an odd behavior. To start investigating this behavior, would you mind confirming if you've already performed a clean reinstall of the app? If not, we'd recommend following the steps mentioned in this article as they can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

Also, if the issue persists, since this could be also related to network restrictions, would you mind trying with a different Wi-Fi network to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can use a mobile data hotspot to test it.

Lastly,  include in your next response the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

We'll be waiting for your response.

I've tried reinstalling and using different networks on both a desktop PC and a laptop, but that didn't help. I assume this is part of an A/B test and is somehow tied to my account.

Hey @lumiuko,

Thanks for the info you've provided!

Does this only happen in the desktop app or in the mobile one as well? What about the Web Player? If it's across all platforms, then it's possible that it's account-related and it'd also be worth asking a friend or a relative to log in their account on your PC or laptop to check if they are able to see the images. And just to make sure - are you only experiencing this issue with Explore your genres

I'd also suggest clearing your hosts file, as well as flushing DNS by following these steps:

  • At the bottom left corner of desktop, type 'cmd' in the Start menu's search bar, and press Enter.
  • Type 'ipconfig /flushdns' in the Command Prompt, and press Enter.
  • You will be prompted with a message that you have successfully completed it.
  • Restart the Spotify app

Let us know how it goes.
