Number-Based Easy Reordering for Long Playlists

I have a playlist with 1,974 songs. When I add a new song, it becomes the 1,975th track. If I want to move it to position 200, I have to drag and drop it manually, which takes a long time. This is not a big issue for playlists with fewer songs, but for large playlists like mine, it becomes very difficult and time-consuming.

I contacted Spotify Support about this issue, but they couldn't help because there is no alternative method for moving songs in playlists. They suggested that I share my idea here.

My suggestion is to introduce a number-based ordering system. Each song in a playlist could have a position number next to it, and users could simply change the number to move the song to a different position. For example, if a song is at position 1,975 and I want it to be at position 200, I could edit the number from 1,975 to 200, and it would automatically adjust the playlist accordingly.

This feature would make playlist management much easier, especially for users with large playlists. I hope Spotify considers implementing this idea to improve the user experience.

If you have the same or a similar issue, please support this idea so that it gets noticed and hopefully resolved!

This could be a neat feature, I know I have appreciated this feature with my steam wishlist when it gets quite extensive. For PC it could require some menu and UI changes, while for mobile maybe if it's located on the 'edit playlist screen' to avoid clutter.

p.s

Just looked through the PC playlist UI and unsure where it would fit, but the 'edit details' could definetly be a good spot for it and be renamed to 'edit playlist' to match the mobile version.
