Official Spotify playlists that contain only AI or fake music should be tagged as such.

MY IDEA AND SUGGESTION: If a playlist created by Spotify contains only AI or ”fake” music the playlist should be clearly tagged as such.

During the last 1-2 years there has been a constant inflow of both AI created and ”fake” music (=extremely low effort) to Spotify. I think it’s pretty easy to agree that such ”music” is only created to get streams, and streams equal money.

My local newspaper just interviewed a person who confessed to having 100+ ”artists” and 5000+ ”songs” on Spotify. He said that he is tactically targetting genres, moods and song names people search for. He sais this is more business model than art.

I am sure Spotify also does this as a company to save money on royalty payments. There are several official Spotify playlists that are completely made of such ”music”. For example: Evening Jazz, Rainy Day Jazz, Relaxing Jazz Paino. All of these playlists contain ONLY songs by artists that do not exists in real life. All of the artists only have a few songs from 2023-24, the album covers are clearly AI generated, and the songs are something that I would call ”bad jazz improv”. It’s clearly either AI, or some pay-by-the-hour jazz amateur who Spotify hired to do the job.

Don’t try to tell your userbase that this is an accident, and that songs are randomly selected for official Spotify playlists. You are clearly creating these playlists on purpose.

MY IDEA AND SUGGESTION: If a playlist created by Spotify contains only AI or ”fake” music the playlist should be clearly tagged as such.
