Spotify "BeReal" - song of the day social feature

A BeReal-style feature for Spotify where users can share one song per day with their friends, which gets saved in a temporary playlist or section for 24 hours. This lets you easily check out what your friends are listening to at any time, making music discovery more social and effortless.

Spotify’s social features feel seriously underutilized. After all these years, the only way to see what your friends are listening to is through the web app—let’s be real, not many people use that anymore. I’d love to have this feature on mobile because it’s always fun to see what my friends are listening to in real-time. But given how long this has been missing, I feel like it’s a lost cause.

However, hear me out.

Imagine a feature kind of like BeReal, but for music. People already love sharing songs on Instagram or Twitter when they find something they resonate with—or when they just want to flex their music taste. But the problem is, when I see a song link on a story, I usually don’t feel like clicking it right then and there. I’d love to listen later, but I’m too lazy to add it to my Spotify manually. And I think a lot of people feel the same way.

So here’s the idea:

  • Each day, you can share one song with your friends.
  • Spotify keeps these songs in a special playlist or a dedicated section for 24 hours.
  • At any point during the day, you can check out what your friends have been listening to, all in one place.
  • You’ll start noticing patterns—like Friend A being on the same artist for the 10th day in a row.
  • It creates a natural, fun way to connect over music without the hassle of manually sharing links.

Not only would this make Spotify’s social experience way better, but it would also encourage people to open the app more often—not just to listen to their own playlists, but to engage with their friends’ music too.

I just genuinely want this to exist i beg you guys!!!!!!
