Curious about which musical instrument is playing in part of a song

Lately I’ve been really enjoying listening to the song “Bring Me Sand” by Hills, a psychedelic rock band from Sweden:

spotify:track:6BL2wUlYcWhVyFhx7UAbDJ:small

My favorite part of this song occurs towards the end, specifically starting from 5:13 and lasting for the remainder of the song. Here you can hear a stringed instrument playing the lead melody, which sounds different to me from the electric guitar playing earlier in the track.

If I had to guess, I would say that it might be a bağlama (or saz) that plays in this section of the track. However, I couldn’t find any information about the instruments used on this album by Hills, after checking Discogs, Bandcamp, and various music review websites, so I thought I’d start a thread here in case anyone recognizes this instrument.

You are right brother although, this is what a lot of string instruments sounds when PHYRGIAN MODE is played on them. (It’s a musical scale that sounds very middle eastern)

Thank you for your reply, @Bassed_Ablenot!

I usually listen to music with instruments typical to the rock genre (like electric guitar, bass, and drums), and am less familiar with a lot of other types of instruments, so I appreciate you listening to this track and letting me know that it’s a bağlama or saz that is playing towards the end.

Thank you as well for sharing about the Phrygian mode! I’d heard of musical modes such as this one, but haven’t delved very much into how they sound and what songs that I listen to use different ones. I think it’s a really interesting topic, and I’m curious to learn more about it.

Cheers!
