Great topic, @Soundofus!
The Most Streamed Female Artists category pretty much aligned with my expectations. Interesting to see that Billie Eilish came top despite not making any major releases this year, only singles - is it me or is that quite an impressive feat?
I really enjoyed seeing the visualised stats in the Newsroom article you linked to. I love this one in particular - it's like a snapshot of life in 2020:
I have no idea who Bad Bunny or J Balvin are. 🤔 I am part of a very musical community and I've seen no-one talk about those two. I do see people talk about Juice WRLD a lot.
I mean, I just recently saw something like this (it's top15 tracks overall, based on their last.fm stats, and they made their account this year!)
...Which is basically pure Juice WRLD. ...Not to mention this artist represents 42% of their overall listens. 😅
I can also agree that Ariana and Taylor are very popular. Some users seem to only listen to them, ending up with stats like the above.
I didn't create any playlists in answer to lockdown or the pandemic, but many people did. I honestly would love to know how many playlists were created for these, it must be in tens of thousands!

LOL, I guess the latin craze has not arrived to your country yet.
They do a lot of collaborations. J Balvin has appeared in my stats two years in a row, and I don't even actively listen to him.
It's very very commercial music though. Maybe that's why they're not of interest to musical communities. With people in TikTok or Twitter, that's another story. 🙂
I honestly am a bit surprised Taylor Swift is not at the top of the list this year, I was super impressed and loved listening to folklore.
I also find myself in a similar position to @Sebasty - I've not heard much (or at all) any tracks from Bad Bunny or J Balvin.
@osornios - you sound like the thread's resident guru about their music 😄 What song (s) of theirs made it to your stats? Curious to listen to it, especially since I've been listening to a lot of popular TikTok tracks recently.
The track that made it to my stats is a collaboration he had with Dua Lipa, and I have to confess that I enjoyed it:
spotify:track:0EhpEsp4L0oRGM0vmeaN5e:small
He also released an album this year, with included this track:
spotify:track:35KmOEIUqAGn02t7n4qaIr:small
From Bad Bunny, this one is charting:
spotify:track:4MzXwWMhyBbmu6hOcLVD49:small
And this one is a collaboration of both:
spotify:track:25ZAibhr3bdlMCLmubZDVt:small
Thanks @osornios!
They sound very dance-pop type of tracks to me, I rather liked them too 😄
I don't think I've heard of these particular ones before but I get why they're popular now 😄
