A few app thoughts (shuffle-sh*tness, Shazam, Playlists, bugs etc)

A few app thoughts (shuffle-sh*tness, Shazam, Playlists, bugs etc)

Alright, Spotify is something I love.

It's a genuinely more convenient alternative to illegal downloading, which in itself is awesome. Not to mention how awesome having the whole music recommendations, artist stations, etc etc. It's honestly a brilliant thing.

However, I can't be the only one that thinks the app... well, it kinda sucks a bit. And it's the thing that most connects my usage to Spotify, as I use basically no other means to access it.

For reference i'm on Android (S7).

Also, apologies in advance if I'm ignorant to features there and am raging about something i'm incorrect about!

- For starters, what the **bleep** is with the shuffle algorithm? It's ridiculous how often I hear songs twice. As in twice in 2 hours on a 9 hour playlist... Basic math says no.

- How does it not yet have a "Shazam" style feature? I don't want to have to ask google what song it is, go into Spotify, and find it... I really don't see why it's not just inbuilt into Spotify to listen to the song, and ask if you want to add it to the library and or playlist

- Add the "add up to next" thing to... everything. EVERYTHING. Like I want to be able to add 4 entire artists to "up next" so I can listen to those artists for a few hours without having to create a temporary playlist. Infact, "add to temp playlist" would be a cool feature cause then I could add 3 artists, hit shuffle, and then have the playlist boom vanish when I switch to other music. Fab.

- Also, the app is crazy buggy - I consistently have to dive into my settings and force stop it, because it just completely freezes at the end of a song. Then it loses where the shuffle was at, and things get even worse from the shuffle front! This seems to be something that started when the update that changed the layout came, so hopefully the update I got last night has a bug fix for that.

- Importing songs from a phones current library... I understand it can't just simply work how a music player would work, and just play the local files. It would defy the point of Spotify royalties etc.

But, it should at least be able to read the library, search within Spotify, and add it to the Spotify library

- Playlist editing/searching/overall usability should definitely be better... Playlists are easily one of the best parts about Spotify.

- Also, I'm consistently finding music isn't actually in my library that I add. However, I think this might be due to a missing feature... basically, I have a playlist designed to be played when around large groups that is a "everyone can enjoy it" type of thing. When I hear a song suitable, I add it to the playlist. The playlist is saved, as in "downloaded". Should this not then make it part of my library? Because it seems to not make it part of my library. Which is annoying having to add it twice. Especially if I hear say a Hip Hop song I like on discover weekly and add it to my Hip Hop playlist, but have to also add it to my library... even though the Hip Hop playlist is saved. And it should again then become part of my library. But it doesn't.

- It seems to frequently lose "where I was at". As in, I'll go back into the app a few hours after playing, and the little now playing popup doesn't appear on the bottom of the screen. It's just forgotten what I was playing and where it's at... Meaning I have to start again and hello back to that **bleep** shuffle problem again.

Anyway, I'd probably keep paying for premium wether these features were there or not... but Considering I do pay I just feel like it sucks I then miss out on basic things that should come with that territory!
