Adding songs via Smart Shuffle

Adding songs via Smart Shuffle

When you want to add songs through smart shuffle that aren't in your playlist, when you go to hit the +, it automatically adds them to your liked songs, then you have to go and change it if you want to add it to that playlist. Instead I feel it would be easier if it added them to the playlist you are listening to at that moment. As someone who doesn't usually add to their liked songs this way, I feel this feature just makes more sense. Then on androids at least, through the music controller when you hit that + it  would add to your playlist instead of your liked songs which I'm pretty sure no one is trying to do in the first place. (this feature would only apply to custom playlists)

I propose a feature enhancement to allow users to add songs directly to the playlist from which they were suggested. Currently, pressing the + button adds the song to 'personal favorites' by default. Instead, I suggest setting the default playlist to the one where the song was originally recommended. This way, songs will automatically be added to the relevant playlist, aligning with the user's likely intention since the song originated from that specific playlist.

Hey there @ToastAndEggz and @Elli14 ,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We hope you don't mind us moving your post out of the ideas section to one of our Help boards as it fits better here.

That being said, we’d like to add some insights. If the playlist you’re listening to was created by you, then the songs suggested by Smart Shuffle will be added to said playlist if you hit the plus button (+).

If the playlist you’re listening to was not created by you, it’s expected the recommendations are added to your Liked Songs playlist when you hit the plus button (+). This is because you cannot edit a playlist you did not create or collaborate with.

If recommendations are added to your Liked Songs even if the playlist was created by you, please send us the make/model and OS of the affected device along with the Spotify version you’re running there, so we can investigate further.

Hope this clears things up. We’ll be on the lookout!
