Alexa+Spotify only works on 1 of 2 echo dots

Alexa+Spotify only works on 1 of 2 echo dots

Hi.

I have 2 dots on the same network and as far as I can tell configured identically and registered to the same Amazon account.

I've gone through the linking process with Alexa numerous times.  All appears to be successful.

I'm testing each echo dot individually (the other is unplugged during testing). When I ask Alexa to play music from spotify, it works on 1 of the echo dots, but not the other.   The dots are in different rooms and I'm not trying to play a single stream across multiple echo dots.

The error message I'm getting is "link your premium account first using the alexa app".

I've read numerous posts and tried several of the relevant suggestions with no luck.

Anyone have an idea on this problem which seems unique relative to other issues being reported.

Thanks in advance for any insight.
