[Automobile Integration] Better functionality ideas

[Automobile Integration] Better functionality ideas

I love Spotify! I'm a DJ by night, and have a desk job by day, which means I use Spotify rigorously for music discovery on my 45 mile commute to and from the office. I have a theory that I'm probably in the 99% percentile for largest number of different songs listened to on Spotify. Here are some ideas:

1) Intra-Track Search - I use the intergrated Spotify / BMW interface, and it's impossible to scroll within tracks to find a part of a song I want to listen to (only go to the beginning / skip). Especially on a BMW, the iDrive controller is a wheel that rotates; it seems perfectly designed to support intra-track searching, perhaps each 'click' moving forward +/- 10 seconds.

2) Playlist Designation - When listening to music, when you click on the (+) button on all interfaces it adds the current song to 'SONGS'. It would be really useful if it was possible to add songs to specific 'buckets', or have multiple 'SONGS' playlists. My 'problem' is that when I'm looking for some dope hip hop / trap song, I'd love to throw that in a different bucket than a trancey jazz inspired electronic song. Is there a way to break out 'SONGS' groupings and integrate with auto / mobile?

3) Export - I use Spotify to find songs I want to DJ live; then I typically purchase high quality versions of all these songs that are non-compressed. With this in mind, it would be handy to have an efficient 'SONGS' or playlist export function integrated with Spotify, perhaps into CSV or XLS format, so that I can easily dump out a list of stuff I need to purchase.

4) Better Browse Control  - More minute control over 'Browse', and ideally accessible while driving, would be great. Here are some of the things I would love to do:

* Listen to every single playlist in the Pop Genre & Moods section and not have to listen to any song twice. What I wouldn't give for a 'don't listen to a song twice in a day' option?

* I spend a lot of time in the EDM Genre & Moods section. I can't for the life of me understand how the playlists are sorted (by popularity? By last updated? By number of songs? By number of songs added since last listened to?). But I would love more control over this.

5) Releases Sub-Section - this would be great if it actually had text. In the BMW, all I can see is a picture of the album art for every new album - no artist, release date or anything. Please at least add an artist designation next to the artwork 🙂

THANK YOU for your consideration. This is my first time posting to the ideas board, I love Spotify and am so thankful for your service.

PS, here are some chill beats I played at a NYC rooftop party the other day:

Hi @mroctopus! Welcome to the Spotify Community and thanks for sharing your ideas.

With our BMW Integration, you can control your music directly from ConnectedDrive. It's not possible to have multiple "Songs" playlists, but you can create folders under "Playlists" that will definitely make your DJ life easier. From your PC, right-click any of your playlists > Create Folder > name the folder > drag any playlists to your new folder.

Our playlists under the EDM Genre & Moods section are sorted by Popular, Influential DJ Composers, New Releases, and In Rotation. You can also sort the songs within a playlist by Song, Artist, Album, or Date Added.

As of the export-function you mentioned, you can check out this idea suggested by another user. For more info about our BMW Integration, head here.

Rest assured we'll pass all of your feedback on to the right team. Those are some great ideas and, hopefully, we'll be able to implement them soon.

By the way, that playlist you created was great 🙂 Thanks for sharing it with us.

If you ever need us again, we'll be more than happy to help.

Hi @Alejandar! Sorry for the late reply, I am not great at internet forums. But I just logged on and want to thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my advice. Your thoughtful comments were great and I couldn't be more happy with your service.
